Too Early

Ok - so we need some serious advice here! Please feel free to post any and/or all advice you might have on a child who wakes up WAY too early (5:52 this am) to get out of his big boy bed. The sleeping in it hasn't been the problem, but the past 3 days it's gotten earlier and earlier. We've got curtains up, blinds closed, even a blanket over the window to make it darker. How do we get back to the 7 am wake up calls we once knew (just last week, even!)? Did we make a mistake by putting him in his big boy bed and not just putting the new baby in a Pack-n-Play for now? Should we just put him back in his crib for a few months? DH and I differed quite a bit on our opinions, but I finally caved thinking it would be ok. Would love your wise/experienced thoughts (and my extra hour of sleep)!!!

When my girls wake up early we just put them right back in their bed and make them lay there until we say they can get out. They usually would fall back asleep. This worked very well with Lindsie who is very obedient, but sometimes not so well with Kimberly who is very defiant. Now they have clocks in their rooms to know they can not get up until "eight zero zero". Good luck!! It's hard b/c he's still so little.

Back in the crib he goes... that's what would happen in my house! I keep my kiddos in the crib AS LONG AS POSSIBLE! Until they are over the weight limit! ha ha. j/k. Barrett's still in his crib and Bauer's in the portacrib. Works fine for us. Although he may resist going back in- what am I saying, he WILL resist going back in! Sorry- no help!

I have also heard (but not tried yet) the whole alarm clock or night light thing where they can't come out until it is sounding or the light is off. We had both of our kids lay in their beds and say Mommy, Daddy, I'm awake. And we would only go in if it was time. They didn't come out usually. Anna was a bit more tough (surprise) and has now also reverted, so let me know if you find something else that works for you cause I need it. I am searching the best sleep book ever for an answer..healthy sleep habits, happy child, but only got a few pages read last night before i was too tired! good luck
